Palazzo Monga Guest House - Verona, Italy

Updated: Jun 19, 2019

Palazzo Monga is the big brother to Lady Capulet. Located on the other side of Verona, This luxury guest house is situated on Corso Porta Borsari, a famous street, in Verona's historical city centre.

Its location is perfect, close to all the best restaurants and shopping Verona has to offer all accessible by foot. The front door is only a hundred steps from Piazza dell Erbe. This property is an excellent choice for travellers interested in the most Luxurious accommodation.

Palazzo Monga is a 4 room guest house nestled in a structure dating back to 1782. In 2014 the owner began a three-year project to restore and fully restore the building. With the meticulously renewed old world charm, Monga is the fusion of old and new. Luxurious soaker tubs, oversized rain showers, and plush furniture, with the original mouldings, walls and floors, to keep with the historical importance of the building. You will feel like royalty as you admire the details and workmanship on your sixteen foot high ceilings.

An ultra modern 2 person elevator or marble staircase gets you to the lobby.

We stayed in the royal suite, with a small balcony which overlooked the Corso Porta Borsari, a swanky Verona street. The bathroom is gigantic and has more comforts than you will ever need to feel pampered, including a giant soaker tub and a shower big enough for five people (in case you don't like to shower alone.). The small kitchenette, with Nespresso coffee machine, and a small bar fridge with still and sparkling water round add the finishing touches. There are a king-sized bed and an oversized sofa,

The quality vault-like doors make you feel secure at night and also block all sound from the hallway. Even the windows that face the street are such high quality the suite is quiet and relaxing.

The property boasts a sauna and a small gym to work off the gelato. Keep your step counter handy though because you will beat all your walking records in Verona, it is a wandering city. There is an underground garage available if you are driving.

Most of the time, we enjoyed walking to the cafe for a croissant and cappuccino each morning for breakfast, but if you enjoy being spoiled while on vacation, Palazzo Monga has a superb room service menu. You make your selection the night before, and the next morning it's delivered and set up at your preferred time. As you can see by the photo below, it's nothing short of extraordinary.

Palazzo Monga is unquestionably the best place to stay if you want to ensure a perfect time in Verona. I promise you will have the best experience but beware, "Parting, is such sweet sorrow."

Superior King Room:

The Superior King Room (495 Square Feet) has five large windows which overlook the courtyard. Sixteen-foot ceilings with dramatic crown mouldings and crystal chandeliers and a lavish marble bathroom. The room is a two-floor apartment combined by a spiral staircase. The main floor contains the shower, toilet and vanity, while the second floor has a large soaking tub and lounging chaise.

Royal Suite:

The Royal Suite has a king-sized bed and a large sofa bed in one room. The gold leaf mouldings and sixteen-foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers in this room make you feel like you are in Buckingham Palace. Two massive windows open onto the stone balconies overlooking Corso Porta Borsari, the famous shopping area of Verona with high-end boutiques. The bathroom has an oversized soaking tub, spacious rain shower toilet and vanity. The total room size is 753 sq/ft.

Executive Suite:

The Executive Suite bedroom has a king bed, the separate living room has views of the enclosed central courtyard. The sixteen-foot ceilings also are adorned with dramatic crown mouldings and crystal chandeliers. This room also has a large walk-in closet. The bathroom in this room is luxurious but smaller, with only a shower and a single sink. The total room size is 645 sq/ft.

The Presidential Suite:

The presidential suite is the largest room. A two-bedroom suite with windows that open onto painstakingly restored stone balconies overlooking Corso Porta Borsari. The high ceilings are also impressive with the same detailed crown mouldings, painted ceiling and crystal chandeliers. The bathroom contains a sizeable rain shower, a large soaking tub and double vanity. The total room size is 936 sq/ft.

What we love:

The Royal and Presidential suites with balconies that have a clear view of the ancient Roman Gate.

Location Location Location. On one of the most upscale shopping streets in town, you can find Chloe and Valentino right on the ground floor of Palazzo Monga. The arena is only a five-minute walk, and Piazza Erbe is a few yards up the street.

The Luxurious finishes in all suites. The attention to detail, even the mini fridge and bar are set into a beautiful armoire to maintain the aesthetic of the decor.

I am NOT a room-service person, EVER. But Palazzo Monga has the most fantastic breakfast tray I have ever had.

Free bicycles to explore more of the city and beyond.
